WORK HARD FOR YOUR MYE
& GOOD LUCK.
See you guys when band pracs resume.

Saturday, 16 April 2011 @ 00:17
Today's Speech Day was kinda epic. I'm sure all of you received loads of presents. Though the sec4 & 5s are stepping down, it's not the end. It is the start of a brand new batch of leaders, the start of a new generation. Please thank your graduating seniors who have worked so hard to bring you this far, guiding you along. The new committee members, I hope you put in your best to serve the band and use your seniors to motivate yourselves. Make them proud. Always remember, "With great power, comes great responsibility." Like what Mr Yeo said, don't be afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes are part of a learning journey in life. However, do not neglect your studies though. I hereby wish all of you the best of luck in your upcoming exams and in everything you do. I shall see you guys when band practices resume. Have a good rest DMB.

Hello band. Today's Speech Day rehearsal was quite inacceptable. Fanfare needs to be practised more. I don't think you would want to welcome the Guest of Honour with that kind of sound. As for the fall out, I think your movement was pretty slow. You guys ain't pumped for nothing. The alumnis who were there today wants you to know that this is to wake you up. You guys got complacent after SYF thinking that you can slack after it. The secondary 4 and 5s yes because you are stepping down soon, however, please do your last few best ones before leaving. The secondary 3s, you guys are taking over soon. Honestly, do you yourselves think this attitude is acceptable? When the time limit is given, please do not take your own sweet time to keep your instruments then stroll down. The band needs to change this, or else, the collapsing of the band is highly possible. That's all. Please practise your pieces and don't be late for fall in tomorrow. Rest well guys.

Hi Band!

In the recent SYF,I know that things did not go as well as you thought you would.I know how you guys feel because I've experienced the same thing.Disappointments and failures is all part and parcel of life, the only problem is whether we want to stand up again after the fall. There's a saying "Its better to try and fail, then fail to try".We know you did your best and I'm sure YOU know you did your best. The best thing to do now is to look forward and keep on moving.Take this as a learning experience especially for the juniors. This will not be your first nor last competition in DMB.There is more to come in life and it is not just gonna be an empty highway.Life is full of adversities and hardships but it is how we deal with it that matters.
I know very well that DMB never falters over failure. We strive forward knowing that as long as we work hard,we will be satisfied.Who cares what the other others think about our result. If you cant appreciate what you've got,how can others appreciate and applaud your hard work. From here on now, I'm very confident that DMB will continually improve and prove to other CCAs that we will not be faltered by a mere bump in the road. The only road from here is up.And the driver is gonna be you guys DMB.

Naz (The best senior EVER!!!)

Hi band,
I can see that many of you are coping well with what happened. Like most failures, this is
hard to get over but I'm glad you guys are doing fine. I want to remind you guys what is on
your noticeboard, giving up is the easiest thing to do. But showing true perseverance and
tenacity through adversities and hardship, that's true strength in character. Take this SYF as
a learning experience as it should be. Also take it as a reality check. What stood in your way of
achieving what you aimed for? Seniors, I especially want you to think about this because you
guys have the most experience. This experience and the knowledge you have gained from it
will be very valuable to your juniors so please share it! If every batch of members were to truly
learn from failures and overcome adversities and eventually pass their knowledge and experience
down to the next batch, the band eventually will get better! It's all up to you to make it happen.
Forget your grudges and cherish each other because you are a team! Serve and make decisions for
the greater good. If you do, you'll find your lives a lot more worth it and there'll be more invaluable
memories and experiences to keep.

Chunjet:
Hello, band. I know that you guys have been demoralised by what the band have gotten for the SYF that passed days ago. Most of the alumnis including me, wants to tell you guys that the medal isn't important. Whether you guys have put it all your best into it is then the most important thing. In life there will be some failures, and we do not have the power to change the present. But do we do have the ability to change the future. Meaning you guys have the ability to change your own future, and how the band is going to be like in the upcoming days ahead. There is a saying, "Life will knock us down, but we can choose whether or not to stand back up." Rome wasn't built in a day. If you want to succeed, you'll have to learn from the failures first. Failure is the mother of success. If there is no failure in life, people would become complacent. I believe that Dunearn Military Band has the ability to play music that inspires. Be it yourself or others. That was what I joined band for. I know deep down, that the alumnis will not give up on the band, so you guys should not give up on yourselves. Use this as a learning point and work harder. Don't get complacent after a small success. And I believe you guys can do it. "Do not be destroyed about what is given to you, instead, take it and use it to change the future." I believe Dunearn Military Band can do it. GO DMB!
