We're having a BBQ at East Coast Park on the 8th of June. More details will be up on a later date. I know it's only April. But i hope that you guys will be free on that day. There will be morning band practice on the day itself too. Make yourself free on the evening!

Speech Day

Hello!
Just here to post something for speech day...
please fall in at 6.30am on saturday in black band tee and pe short...
please be reminded to do your hair at home before you come and BRING YOUR UNIFORM..
girls please be reminded that you have to get black stocking...
guys, please make sure that your socks are black, and NO ANKLE SOCK...

so lets make music on staurday! =)

anyway, there will be interview tmr for all sec 3... please gather outside AVA room at 1pm..

Hi band.
Finally I'm wrapping off everything after all that posts. Some cant post, some didn't post, but it's okay.

Firstly, I want to thank all that made the effort to post at least something. At first, Jueying and I was very worried that nobody will response to this idea of ours to make everybody blog. But, this works and almost everybody obeyed the instructions. We were very thankful and delighted! Thank you people. I'm sure everything that you guys writes has a little impact to each and one of us who had read it. I hope the initial idea of using this reflection writting had made everybody feel a little motivated and start working harder for Syf.

The results of the past few days for Syf I believe all of you had known at least alittle. If not, please do check them out. I sincerely hope that those who hadn't been working hard and had been finding excuses to skip band practice to actually start practising your dearest instrument now. It's just two days, work hard and just suffer for the next two days for this big day. Most of us are first-timers for Syf, including my batch. Our batch had very little members who had experience Syf before, so this may be your first and the last chance to syf. So please work hard. If you don't regret when the results are announced, then start working hard now. Remember, choices have consequences. :)

HEY!

So band, as you know ah, SYF is coming up right? Then ah, i noticed ah, that all of us have been very hardworking ah. So good ah. Then i wanna applaud everyone ah, for taking their time out to com for practice ah. We have been very together & improved ever since that day Mr Yeo reprimanded us in the porch. So yah, good ah. So i hope that you guys will keep it up ah! (:

As for today ah, i know we were all very pissed off by the GuZheng members. But then, we have to understand that today is not our turn to use the music room so please understand ah. One good thing i've realised that we were all SUPER UNITED because when we're supposed to set up the concourse, we were SPEEDY! So good job! (:

Regarding our playing today, i can tell that we were all trying to focus & respond to Mr yeo's conducting. Which is indeed very good as there was the D'Gig auditions that were totally distracting. However, there were a few noisy people here & there luh. So whatever ah.

When it was time to pack up, we were all perspiring & sticky already. But it isn't an excuse to not help to pack up okay?! Only a handful of people really took the initiative to help. But where were the rest of you, you & you huh??? So please please please, as a QM, i have to tell you to help pack up. I know it's not fun. But help here help there then can become more fun what! Bond ah. At the same time can faster go home what, so yah, HELP. (:

All in all, just respond to all of Mr Yeo's conducting. Focus & practice hard. Be humble but confident. Complacency is BAD. (:

profile: About DMB.

Dunearn Military Band has a long history dating back to 1966 when it was one of the first twenty school bands set up in Singapore.
The band started with only twelve pioneer members and has grown to a membership of 120 and is one of the oldest of all the uniformed groups in Dunearn Secondary School.
The band attained a Silver Award at the 11th Australian Music Festival in June 2000.

The band also participated in competitions like the National Band Competition in 2006, which it obtained a silver award and the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), in which it obtained three consecutive gold wards in years 2001,2003 and 2005 and obtained a silver award in year 2007.

In December 2007, the band travelled to Genting Highlands and participated in the 21st Century International Music Fesival and attained a silver award. In July 2008, the band participated in the 1st Singapore International Band Festival and attained a bronze.

Also, the band had an opportunity to perform overseas at Hong Kong in December 2008, with the Tom Lee HK Youth NeoWinds Orchestra.

In the SYF central judging 2009,the band clinched a Silver award.

The band participated in the Singapore International Band Festival 2010 and they achieved a Silver award in return for their hard work.

In the recent SYF Central Judging, 2011, the band attained a Bronze award.

The Band is currently under the baton of Mr Louis Yeo.
