Hi band, I hope what happened after the exchange has woken everyone up. There's 18 days left to SYF. Yes it is near, but there's still time to change, still time to give it your all in your mindset, discipline, attitude and of course, your music. What the band wins will depend on how much effort each and every member of the band puts in. Yes it is tiring, yes it is time consuming, but think about it, if we just start to work very very hard, give all your energy, put your mind on the task, no matter what medal we win in the end, it will be a memorable experience for everyone. What kind of memory you want to keep for the rest of your life is up to you. If you don't give it your all, even if you win a gold medal, will it mean anything to you? Think about it. Put away your complacent attitude, your ego and your grudges with one another. This band is only great if everyone works together as a team. Yes, Mr Yeo says that the band has talented individuals, but this band does not revolve around an individual, it revolves around every single member of the band. Perseverance is very important now, if you have a problem with some part of the music, work on it. Work on it until you get it right consistently. If people give you advice that is practical, please work on it. Don't throw people's useful words down the drain, that will just show how arrogant and complacent you are. We are not there yet, but there's time to work towards it. Remember that nothing is impossible. Seriously, it just takes effort and discipline. Ok some comments from the various conductors on our performance during the exchange: Opening for Overture is good, but we gradually lost life in the music. Pecos was well played, but seriously lacked direction and flow. Ok these are the two comments that Mr Yeo has told me about. For overall we have to improve on dynamics, section leaders, please start to get your section to exaggerate the dynamics. To improve flow and direction, I suggest that we take breaths at appropiate places and also dynamic change is also important. So section leaders, please work these out as well as any other problems that your section may have with the music. Band I really hope that you will do these from your heart, not because I tell you to. If you want to win a gold medal, you really have to concentrate all your focus and your energy for the next 18 days on your music. For tomorrow sec 1s need not come, seniors please fall in at 7:30am in black band tee and there will be a captain's ball game tomorrow at 12noon so please do join us and have some fun! Have a good rest tonight and see you tomorrow! :]
