Things to bring on Wednesday!

(for band, obviously)

1) $10, to give treasurer, for R.O.D (Regardless of whether you peformed or whatever, there's a need to.) Any finicial difficulties please look for Samantha.

$10 will be collected during Fall out on Wednesday./Thursday

Deadline: Thursday

2) Your Band Uniform! Do not forget to bring your bow tie, etc.

(Does not include your dress shirt and skirt, just your uniform jacket)

[To al SLs, Please inform your Sec 4s who went to Genting to return their Band Uniform too, by this Month(January) ]

Deadline: Thursday

3) Photocopy the Concert Scores for your whole section.

Deadline: Thursday

4) For woodwinds, get your nessary items (Reeds, etc)
For all section, Please at least have one tuner. (Sls, do something)

Not to forget, remember to come school on WEDNESDAY!

730am for school, 2:45Pm for band.

Hi Band again.

The next band practice is this coming Wednesday. It is not early or fast anymore, 2008 is coming and please study hard!

Our band concert is coming up. So yes, there will be a new column of Upcoming concerts coming up.

This, will serve as a reminder for you to go for concerts.

and practice hard, because new things will be coming up to perk ya up.

You guys rock R.O.D

Really alot of effort done and I am really proud for you guys.
Another thing yet done to show that DMB ROCKS!

Let's not give up, we still have concerts on 29th march.
Sometimes we ourselves have to look into our own character and change. Scoldings wont work, it doesn't hurt just to reflect on yourself right?

Congrats to Bowei, Nicholas and Jasmine! (:
Of course, the others, you guys showed everyone who you really are. WILD! Wooooooo

Next band prac will be posted soon. Tag the tagboard, to show that DMB IS ALIVE. Everywhere.
We don't need BANNERS to pull people, at least we have the potential, it doesn't matter what problems we face, cos we'll fight it off . Right?

Next band Practice will be on 28th december 2007 (Check your schedule), Fall in at 730 am sharp.
In your white band tee and shorts.

Please by then, dye back your hair to your original colour and cut your hair suitable for school!

boys and girls!
There are so many.. concerts coming up. At least go for one or two.
Holidays are coming to an end soon, which means band practice is coming! ...and which means we are graduating really soon.
anyway forget about that.

ROD is on the 28th December. The Theme of ROD will be RETRO NOON.
Specific time will be put up soon, but it'll be in the afternoon. All Sec 4s are advise to dress "retro" ;)

Also, all leaders of the group please do a good job. Do not just think of negotiating just because you think its impossible. What is given to you, use it. Alright, accept any problems that come your way. This way, it'll make you a stronger person , and even a better one.

All sec 3s, you are advise to come on wednesday at around 9 smth to 10. If you want to get involved in really fun things! If not, its your choice.

Christmas Partae

Dayna will be hosting a christmas partae at her house. Read carefully.

The details:
VENUE: Her house (453 Fajar Rd #11-708)
TIME: STRICTLY in the afternoon. Perhaps around 3 plus.
DATE: 21st December 2007

INSTRUCTIONS: You HAVE to prepare presents which is worth more than 10 bucks for gift exchange later on during the party. Please make sure your gift in UNISEX! Which means, dont get some "Hello Kitty" keychain cus u might have to exchange gift with a guy then u die. Yup.

HI BAND!

There will be an SAF band concert on the 15th of December, which is this coming Saturday. Our dear assistant instructor Mr Zhong Khai Yi will be playing. Please show your support and at the same time, expose yourself to good music and improve yourselves. Thank you.

How to get the tickets? (Please read carefully)
- Tickets have to be booked although they are free
- Dial 64772795
- Start conversation be saying: Hello, good morning/evening/afternoon. I would like to book 2 tickets for the upcoming SAF band concert.
- Please do NOT be rowdy and say something: eh yo, i wanna book tickets arh, saf band concert. eh hello! u can hear me or not?! *&^%$
- The maximum number of tickets 1 person can book is only 2.
- So please call ASAP if u wanna go.
- The concert is at 5pm.
- Venue: singapore conference hall

Alright, besides this concert, Millennia Institute Symphonic Band will be presenting a Christmas Concert entitled 'Sleigh Ride' on the same day and same time as the SAF concert. But the venue: Millennia Institute auditorium. Four of our alumni will be playing. And they are, (drum roll). Abu, Helmizar, Aidil and Justin. Alright. HOWDY!
I guess people out there wants to know what happen during the genting trip right.
Also alittle of thinking back! (so you can write your journal better!)

A brief post up for genting!

The band fall in early in the morning. 530AM to be exact, all were in black band tee and jeans. Very united! We had to do alot of things but everything went well.. so we then headed off to the two coaches waiting for us!

COACH 1- Sec 1s and 4s+alumni+Ms foo

COACH 2- SEC 3s+SEC2s+Instructors+male teachers

SOooooon, from around 6-1 something. We finally REACHED! Alittle of the view here

We then began to bring our big bags down and settled down in the hotel hall or smth.

We had lunch and check in to our hotel (Anybody've got pictures of hotel rooms without faces?!)
We then gathered to have our dinner together! Buffet, GOOD! Before that, we gathered in girls group and guys gang to play kiddo games.

RIGHT, we then proceed with Mr yeo to have our dinner. So we actually went to the wrong place , so we had to take the escalator up and then down. Mr yeo had to ask us to keep quiet.
(i guess we were too excited)

The cafeteria was good.

We then had OPENING CEREMONY for the 21st international Arts festival.
It was awesome, we not only enjoyed performances by band, but by chinese orchestral and dance.

Oh , not to forget, we had our first photo taken together on this day too! Here are the pictures.

YAY YAY. So the next day, NEXT DAY! We had our compeition. We got up very early for sound check, and got ready with our full band u, for our compeition.

We had break till the very next day afternoon.
The next day, majority of the band members went to play?
At where? Of course, its the THEME PARK! Flying coaster, corkscrew, teacup. You guys remember? AND FLYING DRAGON, which is not scary at all.. and that we screamed like some idiots! WOOO!

after all the fun. We had friendship concert, where EVERYONE LOVED US! Seriously, you guys rock everything. With our funny gimmicks and christmas hats!

Everyone was happy and i guess everyone slept very well right?

The very next day, during the late morning. we had band workshop. It was a very meaningful one and i know everyone definitely learnt something that day

Afterwards, we had section photo taking session (will not be uploaded, tedious man!)
and everyone had free time, and it was time for the closing ceremony.
Dmb got a silver and everyone was contented.
However, all these would not have been possible without these few people!

Because of the need to buy paint, cloth and discuss about ROD
2) Do your holiday assignment
(SO BORING RIGHT! STUPID OLVELS RIGHT! But just force ok.)
3) Get your section to buy a ROD present as soon as possible

2) Do your homework

Dear All,
10 December is not a band practice, so please do not tell your parents it is a band practice. You have to be responsible for your actions. Have integrity, this event is 100% volunteer. There is no enforcement that you must show up but we need you guys to help in alot of things, so I hope you all will make an effort to come.
Remember, its never too late to learn from your mistakes.

profile: About DMB.

Dunearn Military Band has a long history dating back to 1966 when it was one of the first twenty school bands set up in Singapore.
The band started with only twelve pioneer members and has grown to a membership of 120 and is one of the oldest of all the uniformed groups in Dunearn Secondary School.
The band attained a Silver Award at the 11th Australian Music Festival in June 2000.

The band also participated in competitions like the National Band Competition in 2006, which it obtained a silver award and the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), in which it obtained three consecutive gold wards in years 2001,2003 and 2005 and obtained a silver award in year 2007.

In December 2007, the band travelled to Genting Highlands and participated in the 21st Century International Music Fesival and attained a silver award. In July 2008, the band participated in the 1st Singapore International Band Festival and attained a bronze.

Also, the band had an opportunity to perform overseas at Hong Kong in December 2008, with the Tom Lee HK Youth NeoWinds Orchestra.

In the SYF central judging 2009,the band clinched a Silver award.

The band participated in the Singapore International Band Festival 2010 and they achieved a Silver award in return for their hard work.

In the recent SYF Central Judging, 2011, the band attained a Bronze award.

The Band is currently under the baton of Mr Louis Yeo.
