Hey band!
Yeah, i guess many of you maybe still brooding over results or probably your own worries.

Fear not! Band is here to take away your troubles!
Haha, yes it can be tiring. But i wonder if youre like me, you still feel the satisfaction after
band even though you are so jaded. Like think about it, it seems like we are the only ones in
the school that accomplished so much things. (hee) And i'm definitely proud of it. But still,
remember to stay humble as always, not forgetting to turn your humble mode to arrogant
mode when playing your instrument.

Let's just say most of us are way too shy already, even myself but we gotta keep telling
ourselves and your band mates to have confidence. Take away the butterflies in your
stomach and start letting the digestive juices do the job! It might not be easy but practice
makes perfect. Work your way towards perfection. woooo!

Genting trip is about a month
away, and let's look into this matter frankly, are we doing enough to achieve the best results?
Alright, the most important thing might not be getting a gold with ashes or whatever. But to
me, i guess it is the experience that is the most important thing for this trip (not talking about
the games experience!) The experience that the band will be going through together, working
hard and learning from mistakes is totally priceless. So let's prevent ourselves from feeling
regretful or anything, we reap what we sow.
Let's just reap this huge garden and sow the harvest (sound so wrong, h aha).
All for one , one for all.

Let's not complain about that
countless band practices but thank God for it yeah?

Dunearn Military Band has a long history dating back to 1966 when it was one of the first twenty school bands set up in Singapore.
The band started with only twelve pioneer members and has grown to a membership of 120 and is one of the oldest of all the uniformed groups in Dunearn Secondary School.
The band attained a Silver Award at the 11th Australian Music Festival in June 2000.

The band also participated in competitions like the National Band Competition in 2006, which it obtained a silver award and the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), in which it obtained three consecutive gold wards in years 2001,2003 and 2005 and obtained a silver award in year 2007.

In December 2007, the band travelled to Genting Highlands and participated in the 21st Century International Music Fesival and attained a silver award. In July 2008, the band participated in the 1st Singapore International Band Festival and attained a bronze.

Also, the band had an opportunity to perform overseas at Hong Kong in December 2008, with the Tom Lee HK Youth NeoWinds Orchestra.

In the SYF central judging 2009,the band clinched a Silver award.

The band participated in the Singapore International Band Festival 2010 and they achieved a Silver award in return for their hard work.

In the recent SYF Central Judging, 2011, the band attained a Bronze award.

The Band is currently under the baton of Mr Louis Yeo.
